Living in Texas for 12 years laid down the foundation and gave 19 year old Miss Venessa Carpenter the heart and soul for the adventures that have found her. Miss Venessa is very grateful for the many memories and years of learning to play the guitar from Mr John Defoore and Mr Charlie Shearer and his wife Miss Shawnda Rains Shearer for teaching her vocals and furthering her education on the guitar. She was soon performing at the Rialto Theater in Dennison Texas, The Tex Ritter Showcase in Carthage Texas and every chance she got she loved performing at the Gladewater Opry in Gladewater Texas. In the fall of 2017 her family moved to Idaho for her Dads work and she wasn’t sure where her music career was going when she was introduced to the IWMA in the spring of 2018. It’s been a great move and she’s met a lot of good friends within the IWMA.

Over the last year Venessa has had the privilege of learning how to write songs with her good friend Mr Dan McCorison whom she loves and appreciates so much for all that he’s been teaching her and she can’t wait to share all the songs they’ve been writing in her first CD. Since covid hit and Venessa couldn’t go perform on stage she brought the stage home and started her Spurs and Strings Instagram Livestream show @venessacarpenter_westernsinger (if ya’ll would like to join) where she has had the honor to get to know everyone and really appreciates the many amazing poets and musicians that have joined and supported her. And this year Venessa has had the privilege of being adopted by her good friend Tom Swearingen into the Columbia Chapter to jam and learn from and hang out with them every month.

2019 Miss Venessa was featured with the IWMA Youth Officers at the Folklore Preserve in Sierra Vista AZ
2019 Venessa was featured in the Western Music Songwriters Series First Youth Showcase in Tooele UT
2020 Venessa was featured in the Western Music Songwriters Series Second Youth Showcase

JACK NELSON IS JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE – EXCEPT HE’S LOUDER ABOUT IT.

HIS MUSIC’S MISSION IS TO CONNECT PEOPLE BY REMINDING LISTENERS THAT WE’RE ALL CONNECTED BY THE SAME THREADS OF HUMANITY.

JACK’S ROOTS ARE AS MOTLEY AS THE TEXAS LANDSCAPE. FROM THE DESERTS OF THE WEST TO THE PINEY WOODS OF THE EAST, JACK’S MUSIC IS A JOURNEY THROUGH HEART AND HERITAGE.

JACK DOESN’T JUST PLAY, HE ENTERTAINS. FROM ROCKING SOLD-OUT FESTIVALS TO TURNING A SMALL-TOWN BEER JOINT INTO A FAR AWAY PARADISE, JACK BRINGS THE ENERGY, THE FUN, AND A LITTLE BIT OF THAT GOOD OL’ TEXAS CHARM. “IT’S CALLED A ‘SHOW’ FOR A REASON, AND NOT A ‘LISTEN.'”

BORN WITH A GUITAR IN HAND, JACK HAS BEEN STRUMMING, SINGING, AND SURPRISING CROWDS SINCE THE TENDER AGE OF FOUR YEARS OLD.

WHETHER IT’S PLAYING TEJANO TUNES WITH HIS DAD, ROCKING OUT IN HIS HIGH SCHOOL ROCK BAND, LEADING WORSHIP AT CHURCH, OR SERENADING STURGIS BIKERS THERE’S NO ARGUING JACK’S MUSICAL JOURNEY HAS BEEN DIVERSE.

AS A NAVY VETERAN, ENTREPRENEUR, DEDICATED HUSBAND, AND LOVING FATHER TO HIS SON AND FURRY FRIEND, DUDE, JACK NELSON IS NOT JUST A MUSICIAN; HE’S A TRUE TEXAS TROUBADOUR.
